Relay For Life (May 20th-21st)

Mon May 16, 2005, 3:20 AM
Hey guys (and gals), this isn't something that I typically do, but I feel that this is a warranted cause. Upcoming on the dates of May 20th and 21st, I will be participating in the Relay for Life event being held at Sandusky Middle School. Genworth Financial (my place of employment) has gathered a team to participate and I am one of those persons. It is the goal of our team's leader, Kelli Martin, to have each participant raise at least $100, but I know with your help, I would easily be able to surpass that.

The Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society ( [link] ). During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

These types of activities to fund research for these types of conditions are very important to me and my family. Just this past year, I lost my aunt due to a 20+ year battle with Breast Cancer that finally spread into her spine, brain, and facial area. I know that I'm not the only one who deals with this - almost everyone knows someone who is suffering from some type of cancer.

I greatly appreciate your time, and thanks in advance.

If willling to donate, I am greatfully thankful that you have decided to do as such. If not, I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this and would appreciate your moral support. Donations can be made through paypal to phaty@phaty.net - or if you were to email me at the same address - I can give you my home address to mail a donation.

I get the lovely opportunity to walk from 4:00am - 6:00am on the morning of Saturday, May 21st.

Once again, thank you, and God Bless.

"It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." ( Matthew 19:24)

How can you support Bush? Or any politician, for that matter, but specifically one who's social programs would not give to the poor. And one who bombs other nations needlessly? And allows the automatic gun ban run out. And the death penalty certainly isn't Christian, and more than that, decent. In the Bible there is naught but limited and very loose restriction on homosexuality; however, it is very clear when it says that wearing cotton and wool at the same time is a sin. And when it says that midgets should not be allowed in the Church. I only wish all of you Christians could pick a side; either interpret it loosely or don't. As for me, it seems silly to disallow midgets, and I'm wearing cotton and wool right now, but does that make me a sinner? Does it make me a bad person or reflect on my character? How many times have you sinned? Then why should me allowing homosexuals to marry reflect on my personality? For the sake of God, allowing homosexuals to do their thing isn't even my sin. God wanted Christians to spread his word, not enforce it. Let the judge be God, you just be the teller of the rules. Let the people make their own choice.

Why did I support Bush? For the sole fact that he IS a Christian, and isnt afraid to say so. FYI, we had the largest tax decreases in American history. The poor pay virtually no taxes, if any at all. Personally, I don't like my money being taken and given to someone who wont aspire to do anything in life. The supposed 'poor' in this nation still live better than the 'rich' in other nations. As far as bombing goes, Islam wants you dead (specifically the radical islamists). Until we are on our rug praying to mecca 5 times a day, they will always want us dead. Guns don't kill people -- people kill people. I for one wouldn't mind owning a M-16 or AK-33; the sheer look and mechanics of them fascinate me. WIthout the death penalty, I would not have my salvation, capital punishment goes back to the beginning of times. Loose restriction on homosexuality? I would say that being gay isn't the sin -- acting on it is. That is how Sodom and Gomorrah in biblical times were smited from the earth (one of the reasons amongst other sexual impurities). Your cotton and wool statement is correct, BUT, this was stated in a time when lambs were made as sacrifices to God. You dont wear the fur from a sacrifice along with something from the ground. (Plus, a good majority of the New Testament law replaced that of the Old). If you can, feel free to reply to me with scriptural references to midgets. I never knew that John and Paul called people midgets back then. Without religion, there is no moral basis within a country - when there is no moral basis in a country, the country will fall.
